Forgotten by heart

"Forgotten by heart"

From Saturday 18 February Arte Borgo Gallery will host Antonio Carbone's personal exhibition with the emblematic title FORGOTTEN BY MEMORY.

The title, taken from a work by Vincenzo Agnietti "Book forgotten by heart" and from one of his writings "What I did, thought, listened to I forgot by heart", is the incipit of the exhibition.

Forgotten by heart are all the most significant experiences of life that re-emerge as effects of an ancestral, occult, cryptic process; this process refers to what we have assimilated culturally and emotionally into our deepest thinking. It contributes to building our identity.

Closed in his atelier, due to the lockdown, forced into greater concentration, Antonio Carbone rediscovers his memory as a source of inspiration. A critical memory that inspires and guides him in the creation of works that reflect on the relationship between time-memory-oblivion, and on our fragile existence in the face of repressed events, because the past is present.

They are memories, from the personal to the collective, that have marked a generation. They are homages to great poets and artists who are still relevant today; they are collective tragic events; they are dreamscapes that reflect the sense of an indefinite wait; they are horizons made fluid by the epochal transformations we are experiencing; they are columns of smoke; they are enigmatic sources of an infinite dust of visions like an immense kaleidoscope from which to draw. An indeterminable abyss of silent stories.
